Eighteen years ago, I started my training as a nail stylist, full of enthusiasm and dreams about what I could achieve. But my world quickly came crashing down. The diagnosis was clear: I turned out to be extremely allergic to acrylates, an essential ingredient in many nail products.
“Little lady, what do you think you’re going to do?” they said. It felt like my dream shattered into a thousand pieces.

But as some of you may recognize, I’m stubborn by nature. I refused to accept that my passion was impossible. Against all advice, I chose to follow my own path. Step by step, I built my own business, determined to help others who, like me, struggle with allergies.

That’s how Abstract was born.

A brand born from my battle against the overwhelming number of products that aren’t safe for people like us. I only sell brands (within ASAP) that I know for sure don’t cause a reaction for me. This is no coincidence! Every product I offer, I’ve first tested on myself. If I don’t react, I then test it on various volunteers. Only after six months or more of thorough testing and evaluation, do I decide whether a product is suitable for production or sale.

I share my love for this profession with anyone willing to listen. No, I may not be ‘social famous’, but I know what I’m talking about. I’ve seen countless problems walk through my door, and I’ve helped people — free of charge — simply out of love for the craft and for my clients.

Nails are my absolute passion. It’s a love I wholeheartedly share with those who trust me and who know I will always tell them the honest truth. If I can’t help, I’ll say so. But if you have a dream, the only thing to do is to try and do everything you can to avoid triggers that could cause issues.
