Rubber Base vs. Rubber Base & Build – Discover the difference!

In nail styling, everything starts with a strong foundation. But did you know there’s a big difference between Rubber Base and Rubber Base & Build? Both products are champions in their own category but serve different purposes. Here’s when and why to use each.

Rubber Base – the flexible base gel

Rubber Base is a non-soak-off, transparent base gel with an integrated acid primer. It’s thin, flexible, and perfect as the starting point for a gel polish set.

Use Rubber Base when you want to:

  • Protect the natural nail
  • Create adhesion between the nail and gel polish
  • Prevent pigment transfer and discolouration of the natural nail

SOS function

Rubber Base Gel is also the go-to rescue product in a hard gel or acrylic gel environment when dealing with oversaturated natural nail plates causing general adhesion problems, and when the standard Abstract® Procedure is no longer sufficient.

Note

Rubber Base is not designed for building or creating an apex – it is purely an adhesion layer.

Rubber Base & Build – the 3-in-1 multitasker

Rubber Base & Build is a soak-off base and builder gel in one, specially developed for use in a gel polish environment. Perfect for:

  • Strengthening thin, brittle, or problem nails (such as spoon nails or oily nails)
  • Creating a light structure on the nail
  • Short extensions with tips (max. 0.5 cm)

Its medium-flexible formula gives a natural feel while providing the strength many clients need. An integrated acid primer means there’s no need for extra primer, bonder, or regular Rubber Base.

Always use Rubber Base & Build CLEAR as your first layer to prevent colour differences during infills and to stop pigments or glitters from penetrating the natural nail.

With this knowledge, you’ll always choose the right base for your client and for the treatment. Whether you’re going for a minimalist gel polish look or a strengthening mini-extension, Abstract® has the perfect product for your work style.
